The reason for this comic pick of the month is because it is the first full story of S.W.O.R.D. (Sentient World Observation and Response Department). What is S.W.O.R.D. you ask? It is an offshoot organization from S.H.I.E.L.D. (Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate) and their objective is to defend the Earth from extraterrestrial threats.
The organization was first introduced via cameo in Astonishing X-men #3. However the first full story regarding the organization was in Astonishing X-men #6.
With all the speculation that the S.W.O.R.D. organization will be showcased in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), this comic value is slowly beginning to rise.
