Star Trek Deep Space Nine looses one of its own

Aron Eisenberg, the actor who played Nog from the Star Trek Series Deep Space Nine has died his widow confirmed.  Aron Eisenberg was 50.

For those of you non-trekkies out there, Nog was a Ferengi (an alien race whose society is built on commerce) who lived aboard the Space Station Deep Space 9. His father was the maintenance man for his brother’s bar at the station. Nog seeing his father’s potential wasted wanted something better. So instead of following the path of all Ferengi seeking profit, he became the first Ferengi to join Starfleet.

His widow Malissa Eisenberg posted on her facebook “He was an intelligent, humble, funny, emphatic soul.  There will never be another light like Aron’s. The beauty that he was and the legacy he leaves behind is beyond words. I love him dearly and will miss him eternally. At the moment I’m not sure how to do life without him.”

The cause of Eisenberg’s death was not released. However, the actor had stated that he was born with only one kidney and had received two kidney transplants (the most recently one in 2015).

Other credits to Eisenberg were roles in the TV movie “Amityville: The Evil Escapes” and the features “The Horror Show,” “Playroom” and “Beverly Hills Brats,” all in the late 1980s.
