In March 1991, a new character joined the Marvel Universe. Based out of New York, DarkHawk appeared whenever Chris Powell would activate an amulet. DarkHawk was his alter-ego and was actually an powerful android body from null space that was constructed by aliens.
His first appearance was in his own solo title Darkhawk #1, published in March 1991 which outlines his origin story. Chris Powell, a normal teenager stumbled upon the darkhawk amulet in an abandoned amusement park. Using the Darkhawk Amulet, Powell discovered his consciousness was transferred into the android body and back again. Using the android body, he would fight crime under the name DarkHawk.
Darkhawk occasionally worked with the New Warriors and was a provisional member of the West Coast Avengers.
