\"\"\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Spoiler Alert \u2013 This article contains information about the movie.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The much anticipated sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy opened in theaters May 5.\u00a0 But like most sequels, audiences were not awed a second time.\u00a0 This does not mean that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 was a terrible movie.\u00a0 Quite the contrary – James Gunn did an excellent job telling another story about our favorite group of space misfits mixing elements of comedy with action.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s review:<\/p>\n

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 starts out with the group working for an gold skinned alien race called the Sovereign.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

This appears to be months after the original movie, with the Guardian\u2019s preparing for a battle.\u00a0 This leads into the opening credits of the movie with baby Groot and the group performing some comedic acts.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

After the battle the Guardians retrieve Nebula and depart unknowing that Rocket has stolen from the Sovereign.\u00a0 A chase and battle ensues and the Guardians escape with a teleportation jump crashing their space ship and stranding them on a planet.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Peter Quill (AKA Starlord) then meets his biological father Ego and his servant Mantis.\u00a0 Ego played by Kurt Russell, (like his Marvel comic book counterpart) is a living planet.\u00a0 Peter discovers from his father (Ego) that he has been searching for him.\u00a0 While Rocket and Baby Groot are left to repair the ship, the rest of the Guardians join Quill to visit his father\u2019s planet. \u00a0Meanwhile, the leader of the Sovereign Ayesha contracts Yondu and the Ravagers to kill the Guardians and retrieve their stolen property.\u00a0 After some awesome \u201cRocket\u201d fight scenes, Yondu is betrayed by his men.\u00a0 As a result, Yondu becomes a prisoner along with Rocket and Baby Groot.<\/p>\n

Adding to the story plot is Nebula.\u00a0 Free from the Guardians thanks to the Ravager\u2019s mutiny, she embarks on a vengeance mission against Gamorra.\u00a0 Nebula finds Gamorra on Ego and after a battle, the two eventually reconcile.\u00a0 This is when we learn more about reason behind Nebula\u2019s hatred.\u00a0 Meanwhile, Starlord learns of his heritage and that is his father is a Celestial being determined to reshape the universe.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Yondu, Rocket and Baby Groot eventually free themselves from the Mutinous Ravagers.\u00a0 \u00a0The trio self-destructs the spaceship, while slaughtering the crew.\u00a0 \u00a0Taserface (the new leader of the Ravagers) informs the Ayesha of their intended destination prior to his own demise.\u00a0 Yondu, Rocket and Baby Groot join the rest of the Guardians on Ego\u2019s planet and together they battle to save the universe from Quill\u2019s father (also fighting Ayesha and her people).<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

After a spectacular underground battle, the Guardians triumph in the end defeating both Ego and the Sovereign.\u00a0 However, Yondu dies saving Star-lord.<\/p>\n

The basic theme of the movie is family.\u00a0 James Gunn did a wonderful job expressing this concept.\u00a0 From the Guardians as a group to Peter\u2019s revelation that Yondu although not his biological father was still his dad.\u00a0 This in addition to a lot of fun and comedic moments in the movie, makes Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 a hit in our opinion.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
